Honda Civic Type R Mugen Special

Honda are to release a 260 bhp limited edition Civic Type R Mugen 2.2. As a tribute to the now discontinued K20 2.0 petrol engine, Mugen have increased the cylinder stroke and bore to 2156cc, giving a 20 bhp increase over the old engine, and a total of 177 lb/ft of torque at 6000 rpm.

As well as the more powerful block, the Type R will receive Mugen developed sports suspension, uprated brakes and a restyled bodykit.

Unsure of the future of race tuned engines developed for road use, Vice President of Mugen Euro, Hiro Toyoda says the following.

[quote]
Environmental pressures mean naturally aspirated engines are rapidly being superseded by other engine architectures and technologies. We may never see the like of the K20 in a mainstream production car again, so it felt only fitting we mark the occasion with this special 2.2 version of the Honda Civic Type R.

Honda have not yet revealed how the limited run of 20 Honda Civic Type R Mugen 2.2’s will be sold, however 16 have already been snapped up. This information should be available shortly, but for now, keep those fingers crossed..
