New Honda Civic revealed at Frankfurt

Frankfurt 2011 hasn’t even started yet and Honda have already released details of a brand new Civic which will be available in just a few weeks on 1st October.

The first thing you’ll notice is the new super slippery shape. Honda have certainly spent a lot of time in the wind tunnel perfecting the aerodynamics of the new Civic, claiming a drag coefficient of just 0.27, the best in it’s class.

The Civic will launch with revised versions of the old 1.4 and 1.8 litre petrol engines, along with a 2.2 i-DTEC diesel lump kicking out 150 bhp whilst only producing 110g/km of CO2. A small 1.6 litre diesel will also be available in 2012.

Honda have tweaked the suspension based upon customer feedback from the current Civic to give a great ride quality whilst retaining great handling. Over 20,000 miles of testing have been carried out on UK roads in the run up to the launch.

Pricing remains unconfirmed, but expect a starting price of around £15,000 when the new Civic launches in October.
