Black Tuned MX5 special hits Japan

What’s the world’s best selling two seater sports car (with a Guinness World Record to back it up)?

That’s right, it’s the one and only Mazda MX5. Today, Japan saw the launch of a special edition Black Tuned roadster, and a good one at that. Based upon the retractable hard top, the limited edition Black Tuned MX5 comes with a 2.0 litre DOHC paired with either a manual or automatic six speed gearbox.

The unique roadster comes in three colour choices, Spirited Green Metallic (pictured), Velocity Red Mica, and Crystal Pearl White Mica each with matching Brilliant Black roof and wing mirrors. Not to mention the stunning 17 inch gun metal grey alloy wheels. The interior sees a full black leather upholstery with sand coloured stitching and black trim.

Originally launched in 1989, the MX5 soon became iconic for it’s lightweight chassis, 50:50 weight ratio and awesome handling. Still going strong after over 20 years, the MX5 is in it’s third generation after selling in excess of 900,000 cars in over 60 countries.

Unfortunately this special Black Tuned MX5 is only available in Japan. Don’t worry though, it would seem that the Japs are just playing catch up on the MX5 Sport Black, released in the UK earlier this year.
