SOTW: 1981 Mitsubishi Lancer Turbo 2000
It’s not very often one of these pops up for sale, this is the car that set the wheels in motion for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.
The Mitsubishi Lancer Turbo 2000, sometimes known as the Evo 0 was the very first Lancer to use the 4G63 engine which is has since been used in every evo to date. The 2.0 litre turbo engine is good for 168 bhp will launch the car to 60 in just over 7 seconds and on top a top speed of 124 mph.
The Lancer Turbo is directly responsible for the creation of the Mitsubishi Lancer Register as Darin Frow liked the Lancer Turbo 2000 so much that he started the UK’s biggest Lancer community.
Although fairly pricey at £7,995, this Lancer is the cleanest example you’re likely to find. Go see for yourself over on Pistonheads.
